. "The meals are the same but only cost about half of what the dinner menu costs. Split dessert and save another $3 to $5; nobody needs that many calories and sugar anyway. Also, if you like a restaurant, call ahead and ask for coupons. Most places do send them if you call."

If you live close to a big city, you can go to Restaurant.com, type in your city or dining preference and purchase discount tickets online.

Whenever possible, plan what you intend to order before you get to the restaurant. This can save you a lot of money in the long run. If anyone comments or raises an eyebrow at your frugality just say, "We're teaching our children not to be wasteful."

10 Frugal Dining Tips
    1. Buy a coupon book or check Web sites for good deals.
    2. Order water to drink, and save money and calories.
    3. Share your meal with children, or divide adult portions among children.
    4. Use coupons from newspapers, mailings and Web sites.
    5. Patronize restaurants that offer free meals for children.
    6. Get your order to go, and save on tips.
    7. Go for lunch: It's the same food for about half the price.
    8. Share dessert to save money and calories.
    9. Skip the main course, and order an appetizer or a salad.
