You Can Afford to Have Great Skin!
Low-cost Products for All Skin Types
By Belinda Clarke
Skin care specialists may offer differing opinions about which skin care products work best, but all will tell you that if you find something that works, stick with it. However, not all of us can afford the various skin care regimens offered by the high-end beauty companies in department stores. And that's OK, because some of the best and most affordable skin care products are available in the drugstores to treat virtually any skin condition.
Oil of Olay is virtually synonymous worldwide with affordable, effective, anti-aging skin care products. Olay's Total Effects line contains a combination of Pro-Retinol (a form of vitamin A) and VitaNiacin® (vitamin B3, vitamin E and Pro-Vitamin B5). This unique concentration, Olay says, helps fight past damage in a woman's most aging-prone zones. The Intensive Restoration Treatment is recommended for forehead, cheeks, eyes and mouth. For cleansing, Total Effects offers Age-Defying Cleansing Cloths for removing makeup and moisturizing. For nighttime, Olay offers the newest addition, Total Effects Night Firming Cream. "After being depleted by environmental elements all day, skin is in its worst condition at night," says Wendy Brackett, a senior scientist at Olay.
Total Cost: $45
Condition: Dry, Sensitive SkinEucerin, which is advertised as the No. 1 dermatologist recommended skin care line, offers a product pair that keeps even the most sensitive skin in shape. First, the Gentle Hydrating Cleanser creates a moisturizing lather that doesn't leave any residue. Follow with either the Protective Moisture Lotion with SPF 25 or for gentle exfoliation, the Renewal Alpha Hydroxy Lotion. Unlike other alpha hydroxy products, this one is extremely gentle and won't sting or irritate sensitive skin.
Total Cost: Less than $15
