Plastic Canvas Art

By Linda Arrington

Older children and adults will enjoy making plastic canvas art! "I go to Wal-Mart and buy a book on any design for plastic canvas," says Linda. Then, she buys a sheet of canvas, a skein of thread to match and canvas needles. "And the rest is history. I have made some beautiful things just using plastic canvas," she says. "If I can, anyone can."

But don't let your creations be limited to what you find in a book. Let your child pick simple shapes out of coloring books and try to recreate it on the canvas. Or, have them draw their own creations on notebook paper, then transfer to the canvas. Another idea is to let them pencil in their name on clear canvas and simply fill in with thread. The possibilities are endless!
