Berry’s Advice for People Wishing to Adopt

  • Talk to other parents who have adopted.
  • Check out Web sites on foreign adoption.
  • Talk to parents who have used different agencies and have adopted from different countries.
  • Don’t be scared off by those people who are having difficulties. Try and figure out what has caused the problems.
  • Pick an orphanage that appears to have kids with minimal problems.
  • Pick a coordinator who can evaluate kids in the orphanage. We had a Russian pediatrician who did a great job evaluating the kids for our physician to evaluate.
