Andrea Richardson

Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician for the NHTSA

"Tragically, traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for children between the ages of 6 and 14 years (NHTSA 1997). However, you can greatly reduce the risk that your children will be seriously injured or killed by properly installing the correct car safety seat in your vehicle EVERY time you ride. My passion is to educate parents about the life saving importance of buckling up their children properly EVERY time they ride in a vehicle."

Andrea Richardson is a certified child passenger safety technician through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). She received her bachelor of science in early childhood development from the University of Utah and worked as a health educator and as the child passenger safety expert for the State of Utah Department of Health for six years.

She is currently working full time, coordinating injury prevention efforts in the Salt Lake community and implementing innovative interventions to reduce the incidence of injury and death to unrestrained children. She coordinates and teaches child passenger safety trainings to target groups, agencies and childcare organizations. In addition, Richardson provides individual hands-on instruction and education at community car seat checkpoints and through individual appointments.

Richardson resides in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her husband, Todd, and their 4-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever, Addie.
