Barbara Hannelore

Coming of Age Expert Creator of the Women's Way Program

"How can we give creative and thoughtful support to girls during puberty? We need to listen to their concerns and, with our daughters, create new traditions that give them meaningful passage as they move from childhood into the cycles of young womanhood. One of my goals is to help girls integrate their cycles into their lives in a way that helps them remain proud of their bodies and abilities, as they gain greater responsibility and a growing sense of who they are in the world."

Barbara Hannelore believes that women's cycles are part of their power. A high regard for cycles greatly contributes to health and well being, as women are no longer fighting against and trying to suppress something that is part of their innate design.

Nearly 12 years ago, Hannelore began observing the silence and disregard our culture has toward women's cycles and the negative effect this can have on a woman's health and self-esteem. By observing and studying the beliefs of many cultures and individuals, both past and present, as well as holistic practices, she realized how much better the experience can be.

For over 8 years, with college classes, women's groups, girl scouts, hospital care givers and moms everywhere, Hannelore' has been teaching, speaking and writing about how women can celebrate the cycles of their lives in a creative and constructive manner. This is part of the larger mission of her Women's Way Program, which is to re-awaken in women the unique sources of personal power. After the workshops, women have told Hannelore' that they truly appreciated being a woman for the first time, and that the experience of their cycle had been transformed by viewing it differently from the inside, rather than by treating it from the outside.

Have you wondered how to help your daughter accept her body and her cycles? How to Celebrate Your Daughter's Coming of Age is a booklet filled with 90 caring and creative suggestions for conversation, gifts and projects that will give parents new ideas!

The Mother-Daughter celebrations and "Women and the Moon" workshops offered by the Women's Way Program provide an opportunity for sharing, developing new traditions and creating meaningful ceremony as woman witness together the passages of their lives.

Individual sessions by phone or in person help women re-evaluate their relationship to their own cycles and coming of age experience. This can help them to empower their daughters.
