Bridget Swinney, M.S., R.D., is a well-regarded nutrition expert in the field of prenatal nutrition, child nutrition and family eating matters. A frequent speaker and media guest, she is a registered dietitian with a Master's degree in nutrition. Swinney has worked as a clinical dietitian, public health nutritionist, diabetes educator and weight loss group facilitator. She is the author of two books, Eating Expectantly: The Practical and Tasty Guide to Prenatal Nutrition (Meadowbrook, 2000) and Healthy Food for Healthy Kids: The Practical and Tasty Guide to Child Nutrition (Meadowbrook, 1999). She is co-author of the The Healthy Heart Formula: The Powerful, New, Commonsense Approach to Preventing and Reversing Heart Disease (Chronimed Publishing, 1996). After self-publishing the first edition of Eating Expectantly, which was reviewed in Library Journal and won the Child magazine's award for one of the Best Ten Parenting Books, Swinney began her specialization in health communications. She has served as media spokesperson for the Colorado Dietetic Association, where she sought placements for nutrition information in the Colorado media. Swinney's media interviews number in the hundreds and include Good Morning America, Weekend Today, Later Today, The Food Network, WGN, CNN On Health and Fox on Family. She has also appeared on local networks in Colorado Springs, San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Austin, San Antonio and Houston. Swinney brings a very practical aspect to her work. At home, she is the mother of two school-aged boys, where she acts as soccer mom, scout leader and PTA volunteer. | |
