Christmas Cookie Contest

We tasted an avalanche of cookie recipes submitted in our Christmas Cookie Contest. From white chocolate-covered to crispy cinnamon, candy cane-shaped and no-bake cookies, we tried them all. Selecting a winner was tough, but we did find one that stood out from the rest. We congratulate Carole Resnick on submitting the winning recipe, Cranberry-Pecan Tassies!
"This is a brand new recipe
which I created just for your contest although in the back of my mind I had a thought about combining tassie shells and cranberries," says Carole. "The traditional shell for a tassie
(butter, cream cheese) is very inviting for any number of fillings. I have even used them for savory fillings. This one came about because I had quite a few bags of cranberries in the
freezer and I had some time to experiment in the kitchen. I found another cookie with a cranberry filling and thought that a tassie shell would be great for a cranberry filling. Using the
original filling as a starting point I simply tweeked it until I liked the taste."
Carole "tweeked" it just enough where we liked the taste as well. Plus, it was the cookie with the most holiday appeal -- the cranberries give this cookie a festive flair. Carole has won a copy of Betty Crocker's Cookie Book: More Than 250 of America's Best-Loved Cookies. Congratulations!
