Let's Remember What the Boards Are For!
Hello!
I have been posting on the December board, as my baby is due 12/23/00. I love it! Everyone is so honest, supportive and friendly. It is so comforting to check postings every day, and see how
my new friends are progressing. I like to lurk, reading the other postings. I have come upon the "Due in February" board and I am really discouraged. I am all for the first ammendment, but I
think these people are missing the point! These ladies (and I use the term loosely) make it hard for anyone to feel comfortable to say anything. I don't know where I would be without the
support, advice, information and kind words from the December mommies! I love this site and I hate for anyone to be offended by some people who are acting like children!
Sincerely,
Sarah Bolton

The Diaries
Dear iParenting,
I practically live on the iParenting message boards. I don't post often but I go there several times a day for info. I also love to follow along with the gals in their diaries as they TTC or during their pregnancy. I think that it is a wonderful way to share the experience with other women who are thinking about becoming a mommy or are on the road themselves already. Also, it presents itself as a great support system. Plus what a cool thing to show baby one day. :)

Enough Miscarriage Mentions
You know, I wish that all the pregnancy sites would quit mentioning the word "miscarriage" smack in the middle of the front page! As if I don't have enough to be worried and concerned about, every single day of the daily calendar up to about 3 months mentions something about it. It's a risk up to a certain point, we all know that. How about we quit harping on it and just be HAPPY about the baby? I'd almost forgotten about it until...WHAM...Week 7 the entire article is all about it.
Enough, already!
Cheers,
Stephanie Davis

Breastfeeding and the Law
Hello!
Quite an impressive site you have for breastfeeding moms. In regards to the question you have posed:
Are there any laws in effect that hinder women from breastfeeding in public?
Answer:
No, there are no laws anywhere that hinder women from breastfeeding in public. Actually, women have the constitutional right to breastfeed! If you would like to read more about this, please
see the LLL Web site about Breastfeeding and the Law.
http://www.lalecheleague.org/LawBF.html
I think this will give you a very thorough look at the law as it has to do with breastfeeding. There is much legislation being done state by state, and some states have actually addressed breastfeeding specifically. However, if your state has not addressed it specifically yet, you are still protected.
In regards to this question and answer:
Unfortunately, there are a few (and pretty insignificant) exceptions to this, such as a few county ordinances that have a provision that their indecent exposure laws do not apply to
breastfeeding under age 2. Impliedly, it would be illegal to breastfeed past age two. I am not sure how this came about, but some are still in effect. Also, a few of the more current laws on
breastfeeding puts restrictions on the right to breastfeed -- which I would consider hindering it. One example is California, where you have the right to breastfeed except in the private home
or dwelling of another. Georgia allows breastfeeding but only if it is done discretely and modestly. They are currently trying to remove this language. In addition, the constitutional right
to breastfeed is very limited -- does not apply to the private sector, and must be balanced against the competing interests. While the answer is very good, I would suugest that you change it
just a bit as follows:
"Generally not, as breastfeeding legislation is designed to clarify the right women already have to breastfeed in public. There are many legal theories upon which a right to breastfeed can be based. If you would like to read more about this..."
