Epidural Questions

I found it interesting that when asking about the use of medication, the only reference was to epidural anesthesia. There are many medications (that can be given at 1/2 dose if the mother requests) that can help relax and take the edge off pain for women in labor. Not to mention the wonderful effects of warm water (shower or bath/Jacuzzi), walking, music, low lighting, low noise, etc.

Epidural anesthesia changes a normal labor into a medically managed event that carries with it several substantial risks and restrictions to a normal labor. I think it is unfortunate that many mothers plan to have epidural anesthesia as their first line of defense to pain before they fully investigate the risks and advantages of other medical and non-medical pain relief measures.

Praise for Pregnancy Today

What a beautiful, helpful, sensitive Web page! I had a pregnancy question arise today and I decided to look it up online. What a delight to discover your page! Not only did I get my reassuring answer, I was comforted by the questions asked by other users. I think the Q&A set-up is well done, and I like the other features on your page. Thank you for providing such an excellent, informative service -- you have been earmarked as a "Web-favorite."

Preconception Diaries

Hello Elisa and everyone at iParenting.com,

My name is Tina and I am a frequent visitor to your sites, mostly Preconception.com. I really enjoy the sites and consider them to be among the very best (if not THE best) in their genre on the Internet. I have especially enjoyed the diaries, and would be interested in joining their ranks. So if you need one more let me know!

Sincerely,

Tina Payne-Smallwood

Editor's Note: To be considered for a diary-writing position, e-mail me an intro statement about yourself at info@iparenting.com.

More About the Diaries

Hello,

I am a fellow diary writer, and I keep up with my diary buddies every week and follow their roads to having a baby. But I have been a bit frustrated in the age of some of the diaries. I check every week and some have not made entries for months! I just think that there should be some house cleaning done in some of those who do not chose in participating any longer. Maybe it would make room for some more new diary writers. It's not fair to us if we are making our weekly entries and they don't attempt to at all.

Thank you for your time,

Michelle

Editor's Note: While we cannot control how often the writers make entries, we ask that they submit entries once per week. The ones who have abandoned their diaries will be removed once we verify that they are no longer interested in participating.

Recipes Today -- Terrific Recipe!

A few weeks ago, I saw a recipe for Crock-pot Chicken Stroganoff provided by Donna Smith. I made it for my family and it was a hit!! I loved it because it was very easy to make and I always appreciate a Crockpot recipe because I can do all the work in the morning when I have energy.

I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian so I didn't eat the meal myself, but my husband and four children eat meat and they raved about it. I did, however, taste the sauce and it was awesome!!

Sincerely,

Sharon Waldrop

Attachment Parenting

I am wondering when the Family Bed board will be up and running? I know there are a lot of women doing attachment parenting, and that board looks like the only one devoted to this style of parenting. Will there be a board dedicated to attachment parenting at any time? Thanks so much for these wonderful venues for interaction. I got through my pregnancy by being here!!
