Thrilled to See Dr. Sears

Dear Elisa and the iParenting.com team,

As a very frequent visitor to many of the iParenting.com Web sites, I am absolutely thrilled to see that you've welcomed Dr. Bill and Martha Sears into the family of expert columnists! I believe Dr. Sears presents well-balanced, "gentle" advice to parents who desperately want to follow their natural instincts in nurturing their children. I have read his advice (Q&A) columns in other "mainstream" publications, and I am continually impressed with his ability to distill complex medical information into clear and understandable advice. Also, I applaud his ability to empower parents to listen to and trust in their instincts, to respond to their babies' cries, to continue nursing their babies until they have outgrown the need, and to understand that you cannot spoil a child by holding or loving him too much.

I am the devoted mom of an energetic, confident, intelligent, "attached" 2-year-old daughter, Sophia -- whose beautiful long-term-breastfed cheeks are currently featured on your ToddlersToday.com home page!!! (Beautiful cherub cheeks! Just another benefit of extended nursing!) As she grows, and new issues present themselves, I will seek expert and peer counsel from the iParenting.com Web sites.

Speaking for the growing number of informed and empathic parents, who want to raise confident and empathic children, we applaud your decision to host Dr. Sears!

Most sincerely,

Sallie Delaney

Thanks for Preconception.com

I recently (in May) had a blighted ovum and was very depressed. I have been coming to this Web site and found it to be very informative and inspiring. I truly enjoy the diaries, message boards, newsletters, articles, etc. It is kind of like being a part of a support group. I am on folic acid now and hope to TTC starting next summer, so wish me luck, please. Thanks again for offering such a lovely Web site.

More on Preconception.com

I really enjoy the Preconception.com Web site, but I have a suggestion. You might want to think about adding an "Other" option to your surveys. For instance, this week's survey, what's the most valuable item in your "TTC bag of tricks?" is so weird and misleading. How can we know if an item is valuable if we haven't gotten pregnant yet? And what if there are other options you haven't listed there? In my case, I would say that my private journal is the most comforting, but you don't have that as an answer. In my journal, I track my cycle, but I don't take my temparature, because I have very regular 28 day cycles. I just track the days we have sex, the length of my period, my private thoughts and concerns and frustrations.

TTC After 40

I would like some information on pregnancy for women after the age of 44. This also should include women who have conceive for the third or fourth time and became pregnant again at age 40 or so.

I am thinking about having another child and I HAVE 3 sucessful pregnancies in the past and deliver 3 healthy children.

Thanks,

Linda
