Enjoys Recipes Today

Hello there.

My daughter, her husband and my two -- soon to be three -- grandchildren, live with us. My daughter and I are especially interested in the recipes. Michellee is due December 30th with her third daughter. So far she is doing all right, except she is borderline diabetic and that really saps her energy. I'm glad I'm able to be here for her.

Question About Boards

Hi there.

I am writing you concerning the Born in November98 board. We ladies who frequent there are concerned as to whether you are going to shut it down at the end of the year or not. We use it almost every day to ask questions about are little ones and would hate to see it go. Can you please inform us as to what is going to happen with it and if you can keep it open for us. Or anyother solution (like a Born in 98 board)

Sincerely,

Melanie Unland

Webmother's Note: Rest assured, your board will remain up as long as you want it to! :-)

More on Pregnancy Today

Hi: :o)

I just wanted to let you know how much I do love your site and appreciate all of the info about pregnancy. My favorite part of the site is reading other women's experiences through the diaries.

Thanks!

Leslie, Mommy to:
Kristen (6 1/2 years old)
Elizabeth (3 years old)
Baby due April 26,2000

Greetings From Portugal

Dear Elisa:

Your newsletter as well as your sites were a helping hand for me during my pregnancy and now with my baby girl, who will be 6 months old next 12th November 1999.

I have given your site as a reference to several friends of mine, even relatives expecting soon the arrival of a new family member!

MomsTalk

I love Hopeful Moms. What a great bunch of very supportive and knowledgeable women. Could you please archive some of the responses? It's getting VERY long and takes forever to load. I think if you just had the last ten days of responses that would be enough.

Wants to Share Stories

Dear Elisa,

I have been receiving the newsletter for a few months now and love it. Thank you. I'm 42 and having my second child after 14 years. How do I enter in birth stories or diaries? Please let me know I would love to share with the other girls.

Thanks again,

Diane

Webmother'sNote: To submit a birth story, go to http://birthstories.com and to be considered for a diary writer position, write an intro statement to us at info@iparenting.com.

Voicing a Concern

I have been coming to Preconception.com for over a year now and have found it to be a wonderful place to find information and support as I am on my own journey in the "pursuit of parenthood." Other Web sites I have accessed do not compare to yours with regard to the amount and variety of content.

I am concerned, however, that the iParenting Team chose to include the diary of a woman who is living with her boyfriend, has no intention of getting married and is planning a pregnancy. I am not so naive to believe that simply being married means a child will have a stable/loving home, but the odds are certainly in favor of it. What is your motivation for including this diary? If a woman who doesn't believe in marriage is an acceptable candidate for writing a diary, then how about a 15 year old who has been knocked-up by her 19-year-old boyfriend? Shouldn't SHE be represented on your site so she can be of some support to other girls who share the same plight of their irresponsiblity (there certainly are enough of them out there)?

Hopefully, you realize I am playing devil's advocate here in my attempt to get your attention...I am not the type to sit around writing complaint letters to everyone and everything that bothers me, so why bother now? Because, I believe that although pregnancy and birth are amazing events, the ultimate result is a living, breathing, innocent and vulnerable CHILD. A real person! When I see evidence that indicates the focus is not what is in the best interest of children, then I feel compelled to do or say SOMETHING. Wtih each passing day, the sanctity of marriage and the importance of family is being devalued and I know that at least some of you know this. Aren't we ALL responsible for upholding values that are worth passing on to our children? Would any of you tell your son/daughter to move in with their boy/girlfriend and start a family? I hope not, but if you answered "yes" then perhaps this explains the inclusion of the particular diary.

Standing up for what is right may not be easy, but nothing this is worth having comes easily.

Sincerely,

K.F.

A Note From a Nurse

Hi, folks,

I am a nurse and prenatal teacher who has been "checking in" weekly for a while now to see what parents-to-be are interested in in order to design a preconception class. The mailings have been helpful, so thanks!
