Children's Sunglasses Recalled by FGX International Due to Lead Paint

Name of Product: Children's Sunglasses

Importer: FGX International Inc., of Smithfield, R.I. They were manufactured in China.

Hazard: Surface paint on the sunglasses can contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: The recall involves 15 styles of children's sunglasses. The style name is printed on the product inside the left temple arm. The name "Foster Grant" may also appear on the temple arm of some styles. The styles included in the recall are:

Bubble Gum

Buzz
Conqueror Jr.
Curly Q
Encompass Jr. IK
Fade IK
Gadget IK
Iceman

No other styles are included in this recall.

Sold at: Various stores nationwide from January 2007 through November 2007 for between $3 and $11.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take these sunglasses away from children and return them to FGX International for a free replacement or refund, including shipping and handling.

Boys' Hooded Sweatshirts with Drawstrings Recalled by Scope Apparel

Name of Product: Boys' hooded sweatshirts

Distributor: Scope Apparel L.P., of Houston, Texas. They were manufactured in Bangladesh, India, China and Pakistan.

Hazard: The garments have a drawstring through the hood, which can pose a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: The boys' small- and medium-sized hooded zip-up sweatshirts have various designs on the front, and were sold in charcoal, navy blue and brown colors. "Whatever" and "RN#39209" are printed on the tag sewn into the jacket.

Sold at: Mass merchandise and specialty children's clothing retailers nationwide from August 2007 through November 2007 for between $20 and $40.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings to eliminate the hazard, or return the sweatshirts for a full refund to either the place of purchase or Scope Apparel.

Personal Identity Children's Sweaters with Drawstrings Recalled by Sears

Name of Product: Personal Identity brand V-neck sweaters with hood

Importer: A & R Knitwear, of New York, N.Y. They were manufactured in Pakistan.

Hazard: The recalled sweaters have a drawstring through the hood, posing a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts. No injuries or incidents have been reported.

Description: The recalled sweaters have a V-neck, hood and kangaroo pocket. The sweaters are either pink with charcoal stripes or blue with white stripes. They were sold in the following girls' sizes: small, medium, large and extra large.

Sold at: Sears stores nationwide during September 2007 for about $34.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstring to eliminate the hazard.

Basic Editions Girls' Clothing Sets Recalled by Kmart

Name of Product: Basic Editions brand girls' clothing sets

Importer: Millennium Apparel Group, of New York, N.Y. They were manufactured in Pakistan.

Hazard: The recalled pants have a drawstring at the waist that can pose an entrapment or entanglement hazard to children. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled two-piece clothing set has olive-colored knit pants with a fully-tunneled waist drawstring and a pink short-sleeved top with necktie. The set was sold in the following girls' sizes: 4/5, 6/6X, 7/8 and 10/12.

Sold at: Kmart stores nationwide during July 2007 for about $17 per set.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings to eliminate the hazard.

TKS Children's Pants Recalled by Sears Due to Entrapment Hazard

Name of Product: TKS brand children's pants

Importer: E.S. Sutton Inc., of New York, N.Y. They were manufactured in China.

Hazard: The recalled pants have a ribbon belt at the waist that can pose an entrapment or entanglement hazard to children. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled pants were sold in two styles. The first style (model numbers 62240 and 62254) is denim with a brown ribbon belt on the waistband. These pants have a sewn-on patch and an embroidered butterfly. They were sold in infant sizes 12 months, 18 months and 24 months and toddler sizes 2T, 3T and 4T. The second style (model number 62226) is khaki with a fabric belt on the waistband. They have two cargo pockets, one with an embroidered heart. The cuffs have buttons and plaid trim on the underside. They were sold in toddler sizes 2T, 3T and 4T.

Sold at: Sears stores nationwide from July 2007 through August 2007 for about $16.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the belt to eliminate the hazard.

Old Navy Recalls Boys' Jackets for Entrapment Hazard

Name of Product: Performance Fleece-Lined boys' jackets

Retailer: Old Navy LLC, of San Francisco, Calif. They were manufactured in Indonesia.

Hazard: The jackets have a waist drawstring with a toggle that could become snagged or caught in small spaces or doorways, which can pose an entrapment hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from getting entangled on waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: The performance fleece-lined shell jackets are hooded, zip in the front and have a drawstring at the waist. The jackets were sold in black or blue in multiple children's sizes. "Old Navy" is printed on a label at the neck. Style number 507907 is printed on a white label sewn into the side seam of the jacket.

Sold exclusively at: Old Navy stores nationwide and oldnavy.com from August 2007 through November 2007 for about $30.

Remedy: Consumers should return the jackets to any Old Navy store or, if purchased online, contact Old Navy for instructions on returning the jacket to receive a full refund. Consumers who return the jacket before March 31, 2008, will also receive a $5 appreciation card. Consumers choosing to keep the jacket should immediately remove the drawstring to eliminate the hazard. Visit www.oldnavy.com for instructions on properly removing the drawstring.

Name of Product: Children's fleece hooded zip-up jackets with neck Drawstrings

Distributor: The Bon-Ton Department Stores Inc., of York, Pa. They were manufactured in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan.

Hazard: The garments have a drawstring through the hood, which can pose a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled hooded zip-up sweatshirts are for Boys 8-20 and were made under the "Burnside" brand. The sweatshirts came in boys' sizes small, medium, large and X-large and have various designs on the front. The recalled models have "RN # 39209" printed on the tag.

Sold at: Bon-Ton, Bergner's, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Elder-Beerman, Herberger's and Younkers stores nationwide and Parisian stores in the Detroit area from August 2007 through October 2007 for between $18 and $30.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard or return the garment for a refund.

Children's Metal Jewelry Recalled by Buy-Rite

Name of Product: Sparkle City Charm Bracelets and Tack Pin Sets

Importer: Buy-Rite Designs Inc., of Freehold, N.J. They were manufactured in China.

Hazard: The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled charm bracelets have silver-colored star and butterfly charms and clear and pink beads that hang from a silver-colored chain. The tack pins are silver butterflies or stars with clear and pink beads.

Sold at: Big Lots stores nationwide from August 2005 through April 2007 for about $1.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled jewelry away from children and return it to the store where purchased for a full refund. If unable to return it to the stores, contact Buy-Rite for information on how to receive a refund.

Name of Product: Decorative Stretchable Aqua Bracelets

Hazard: The bracelets contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled bracelets are stretchable, with silver-colored square links and aqua-colored beads. SKU#5384706813 is printed on the packaging.

Sold at: Various dollar stores, liquidators and schools as part of fundraising, nationwide from September 2003 through April 2007 for between $1 and $12.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bracelets and take them away from young children. Return them to the store where purchased or contact the firm to receive a full refund.

Name of Product: Children's Metal Necklaces and Bracelets

Manufacturer: Colossal Jewelry & Accessories Inc., of Maywood, N.J. They were manufactured in China.

Hazard: The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled metal necklaces and bracelets have silver-colored charms. Some also have colored beads. "Awesome Boutique" or "Share the Love" is printed on some of the jewelry's packaging. The jewelry includes a necklace with a metal flower-shaped charm that hangs from a pink cord, a metal heart charm bracelet, a metal heart angel charm bracelet with colored beads, a metal bracelet with four heart charms and ruby-colored beads, necklaces with painted hearts that hang from a cord and necklaces with tiny purses in various colors.

Sold at: Various discount and dollar stores nationwide from January 2005 through June 2007 for about $1.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled jewelry away from children and return it to the store where purchased for a full refund.
