The Life is Good Company Travel Mugs Recalled Due to Burn Hazard
Name of Product: Fall 2009 Newbury Travel Mugs

Importer: The S Group, of Portland, Ore.

Hazard: The travel mugs can become excessively hot to the touch when filled with hot liquids, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received three reports of excessively hot mugs, including one complaint of a minor burn to the hand.

Description: This recall involves Newbury Travel Mugs. The 7 1/2 -inch tall mugs were sold in blue, green and orange each with a navy blue lid. The Life is good trademark is printed on the mug along with a graphic of a heart, peace symbol or daisy.

Sold at: Life is Good and independent retail stores nationwide and online at lifeisgood.com from July 2009 through September 2009 for about $20.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the travel mugs. Consumers can return the mugs to receive a credit or gift certificate for the amount of the purchase price.

Additional Injuries Prompt DeVilbiss to Reannounce Recall of Pressure Washers and Air Compressors

Name of Product: DeVilbiss Air Power Company Pressure Washers and Air Compressors

Manufacturer: DeVilbiss Air Power Company, of Jackson, Tenn.

Hazard: The pressure washers and air compressors have pneumatic tires with plastic hubs that can burst, posing fracture and laceration hazards to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: DeVilbiss has received more than 100 injury reports, including hand and finger fractures and lacerations and reports of minor property damage and damage to vehicles. The December 2006 recall announcement reported more than 26 reports of injuries.

Description: The recalled pressures washers and air compressors were sold under the brands and model numbers list here.

The pressure washers' brand, model number and manufacturing date are located on the name plate on the rear of the engine base. On the air compressors the brand, model number and manufacturing date are located on the front of the motor housing. Only pressure washers and compressors with pneumatic tires with plastic tire hubs are affected; pressure washers and compressors with solid tires or metal tire hubs are not affected.

Sold at: Both products were sold at home centers and hardware stores nationwide. Recalled pressure washers were sold from January 2004 through November 2005 for between $300 and $1,400. The recalled air compressors were sold between December 2004 and October 2006 for between $300 and $500.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using these products immediately and contact DeVilbiss to obtain the location of the nearest service center to receive a free replacement of the tires.

Paula Deen Cast Iron Cookware Sold by QVC Recalled

Name of Product: Paula Deen Hammered Cast Iron Cookware

Retailer: QVC Inc., of West Chester, Pa.

QVC Paula Deen Cast Iron CookwareHazard: The recalled cookware can crack or shatter, posing burn and laceration hazards to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: QVC and Meyer Trading have received 79 reports of the cookware cracking or shattering while heated. One consumer reported a minor burn injury to an arm.

Description: This recall involves the Paula Deen 11-inch cast iron grill pans and griddles. They were sold as QVC item numbers K14984, K11970 and K135024. The cookware is black and has the Paula Deen logo and the product size engraved on the bottom. No other Paula Deen cookware is involved in this recall.

Sold through: QVC's televised shopping programs, its Web site www.qvc.com, and QVC retail and employee stores from October 2007 through July 2009 for between $35 and $55.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cookware. Known purchasers were mailed instructions for obtaining a full refund. Consumers who purchased the cookware at a QVC store should return it to any QVC store for a full refund.

Lamplight Farms Recalls Replacement Torch Fuel Containers

Hazard: The flame guards on the recalled replacement torch fuel containers can malfunction and cause the containers to melt while the torch is in use, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Lamplight has received 35 reports of the fuel containers melting while the torch was lit including one report of a minor burn injury.

Lamplight Farms torch fuel containersDescription: The recall involves Clear-Vu Torch Fuel Containers sold as replacements. "RC" is stamped on the underside of the flame guard. Clear-Vu torch fuel containers that came with torches are not included in this recall.

Sold at: Discount, hardware and home improvement stores nationwide from January 2008 through August 2009 for between $1 and $3.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled flame guards on Clear-Vu torch fuel containers and contact Lamplight to receive a free repair kit.

Hazard: Fraying of wiring within the wiring harness can cause the juice dispenser's transformer to overheat, posing a fire hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: IMI Cornelius has received one report of a transformer smoldering and smoking. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

IMI Cornelius Recalls Juice DispensersThe serial number can be found on the inside of the front door of the dispenser.

Sold to: Commercial customers for installation in hospitality and other food service establishments nationwide from February 2001 through August 2006 for about $2,000 (2-flavor unit) or about $3,200 (4-flavor unit).

Remedy: Customers should unplug the unit, open the door and inspect the wire harness in the bottom left corner of the cabinet. If the colored wiring is cut or cracked (see photo), customers should immediately stop using the unit and contact IMI Cornelius. IMI Cornelius is contacting all customers directly to provide a free repair kit.

Description: This product is a combination garlic press and slicer. Recalled model numbers 998009, 998010 or 998010CB were printed on the product's packing card, hang tag or UPC label, but not on the product. The units have "Trudeau" embossed on the handle.

Sold at: Department and retail stores nationwide for about $20.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled Garlic Duo immediately and contact Trudeau for directions on how to receive a free replacement garlic press and a complimentary set of three flipper measuring spoons.

Description: The recall involves the G0640X 17-inch metal/wood bandsaw with an inverter motor. The product's model number (G0640X) is printed on the front of the machine.

Sold at: Grizzly's showrooms, catalog and Web site, and Amazon.com from February 2008 through July 2009 for about $1,600.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled bandsaws immediately until the repair kit is installed. The firm is sending repair kits directly to consumers.

Description: The Hungry Figures and Hungry Magnets have orange plush exteriors. The Hungry Figure is about 6 inches long and the Hungry Magnet is about 4 inches long.

Sold exclusively by: Weight Watchers between April 2009 and July 2009 for between $4 and $7.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Hungry Figures and Hungry Magnets and return them to Weight Watchers to receive a full refund or a credit towards the purchase of another product.

Hazard: The internal coupler that connects the down rod assembly to the motor can break and cause the fan to fall from the ceiling, posing an injury hazard to consumers.

Description: The recalled Pensi fans have model numbers beginning with or containing "PEN-AA-" or "PEN-GW-" and have an Aluminum/Anthracite or a Gloss White finish.

Modern Fan Co. Pensi ceiling fansSold at: Internet retailers, lighting showrooms, fan specialty stores and electrical distributors nationwide from August 2008 through July 2009 for between $400 and $530.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately turn off the power to the fan to stop use and contact The Modern Fan Co. for assistance with model identification and a replacement coupler. Consumers are also advised to not allow anyone underneath the fan. In the event that a fan falls, consumers should immediately turn off the circuit breaker due to the possibility of exposed electrical wires.

Description: This recall involves a single DVD player with a remote control. The device is silver colored and has a U-shaped opening at the top to insert the DVD.

Sold exclusively at: Wal-Mart stores nationwide from January 2006 through July 2009 for about $29.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the product and return it to the nearest Wal-Mart for a full refund.
