Body Boards Recalled by JGR Copa

Importer: JGR Copa LLC, of Hollywood, Fla.

Hazard: The green surface coating of the screened logo "Big Lizard body boards" on the underside of the body board contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves the 18-inch Kick Body Board. The boards have various designs on the front including peace signs, white hibiscus or yellow smiley face. A green lizard and "Big Lizard body boards" are printed on the underside in green.

JGR Copa body boardsSold at: Beachwear Outlet, Bargain Beachwear, Beach Village Inc., FJ Health & Beauty, Mor USA Inc., Shipwreck-Ocean Jewels, Wal-Mart and Wilcor International Inc. from January 2009 through May 2009 for about $4.

Remedy: Consumers should take the recalled body boards away from children immediately and return them to place of purchase or contact JGR Copa for a full refund.

Outdoor Playset Gliders Recalled by Backyard Play Systems

Name of Product: Outdoor Playset Gliders

Distributor: Backyard Play Systems LLC, of Monroe, Mich. They were manufactured in China.

Backyard Play Systems outdoor gliderHazard: The retaining rings used to secure the gliders to the playset can become loose or detached, posing a fall hazard to children.

Incidents/Injuries: Backyard Play Systems has received one report of a retaining ring falling off. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves outdoor playset gliders designed to hang from home play equipment. The green plastic gliders were sold as an accessory to home play equipment marketed under the brand names Heartland Premium Play Systems, Yardline Play Systems and Backyard Play Systems.

Sold by: Backyard Buildings and More and Lowe's stores nationwide and online at Costco.com, BettyMills.com and BackyardBuildings.com from February 2008 through May 2009 for about $100.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the gliders. Backyard Play Systems is notifying all customers directly and is providing a free repair kit, which includes replacement hardware and written instructions.

Home Depot Recalls Patio Umbrellas

Name of Product: Offset Patio Umbrellas

Importer: The Home Depot, of Atlanta, Ga. They were manufactured in China.

Home Depot offset patio umbrellaHazard: The patio umbrella and its pole could tip over and strike consumers if the umbrella's collar or sleeve is not removed prior to closing the umbrella, posing a risk of impact injury to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Home Depot has received one report of a recalled patio umbrella tipping over and breaking. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The patio umbrellas are beige with a brown offset pole. They stand 11 feet tall. The base is a brown cross about 18 inches long.

Sold at: The Home Depot stores nationwide from January 2009 through February 2009 for about $250.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled patio umbrellas and return them to any Home Depot store for a full refund.

Composite Decks Recalled by Louisiana-Pacific

Louisiana-Pacific composite deckName of Product: Composite Decks

Manufacturer: Louisiana-Pacific (LP) Corp., of Nashville, Tenn. They were manufactured in the United States.

Hazard: The recalled decking can prematurely deteriorate and unexpectedly break. Consumers can fall through broken decking and suffer serious injuries.

Incidents/Injuries: LP has received 37 reports of composite decks breaking, resulting in 14 injuries, including a broken wrist, sprained ankle, minor lacerations and bruises.

Louisiana-Pacific composite deck

Description: The recall includes outdoor deck board and railings sold under the brand names LP WeatherBest, ABTCo. and Veranda®. They are composite products that look similar to natural wood and were sold in various colors including Tuscan Walnut/Chestnut, Driftwood Grey/Greystone, Pacific Cedar and Western Redwood. Veranda decking products were manufactured by multiple firms; only products manufactured by LP are included in this recall.

Sold at: The Home Depot (Veranda brand) and building product dealers (LP WeatherBest and ABTCo. brands) nationwide from January 2005 to August 2008 for between $1.50 and $2.25 per linear foot.

Remedy: Consumers with the recalled decking should immediately contact LP for a free inspection. If the decking is affected by premature deterioration, LP will arrange for a free replacement.

SportsPlay Equipment Recalls Playgrounds Due to Violation of Lead Paint Ban
The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Product Involved: Playground Equipment

Distributor: SportsPlay Equipment Inc., of St. Louis, Mo. They were manufactured in Turkey.

Hazard: The handrails and posts on the playground contain high levels of lead paint. Lead can be toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: The recall involves the Tot Town Fun Center, Tot Town Castle Fun Center, Tea Cup Merry Go Round, 8- Web Climber, Rope Wall, Four Panel Circular Aztec Climber and Three Panel Aztec Climber. For a complete list of model numbers, click here.

Sold by: Authorized SportsPlay dealers nationwide from January 2003 through December 2007 for between $1,300 and $5,500.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the playground immediately if the painted parts have chipped off. Consumers with the recalled playgrounds have been directly contacted regarding this recall and will receive free replacement parts.

Ross Stores Recalls Folding Patio Chairs Due to Fall Hazard
Name of Product: Folding Patio Chairs

Importer: Ross Stores Inc., of Pleasanton, Calif. They were manufactured in Vietnam.

Incidents/Injuries: Ross Stores has received one report of a consumer who suffered shoulder pain after her chair collapsed.

Description: The folding wooden patio chairs are made of eucalyptus. SKU 400037791757 and manufacturer style number KTOC-1638-ROS are printed on a hangtag attached to the chair.

Sold at: Ross Stores nationwide in February 2009 for about $50.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using these chairs immediately and return them to any Ross Store for a full refund.

Holiday Lights Recalled by Four Star Group USA Due to Fire Hazard
Name of product: Fresh Décor 10 Count LED Star String Lights

Distributor: Four Star Group USA Inc., of Hopkinton, Mass. They were manufactured in China.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received two reports of the recalled lights smoking and/or melting. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled holiday lights are a string of 10 LED bulbs, each covered with a clear, star shape. "Fresh Décor" is printed on the front of the product's packaging; the UPC (#7989390761) is printed on the back, below the bar code.

Sold at: Safeway stores nationwide, including Carrs, Dominick's, Genuardi's, Pak'n Save, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb and Vons, from October 2008 through December 2008 for about $7.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lights and return the product to any Safeway store for a full refund.

Holiday Lights Recalled by Universal Distribution Center

Distributor: Universal Distribution Center LLC, of Edison, N.J. They were manufactured in China.

Holiday Lights Recalled by Universal Distribution Center Hazard: The lights have undersized wires that can easily pull out of the plugs and light sockets, becoming exposed. This poses an electric shock and fire hazard to consumers. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled holiday lights are a string of 50 clear or multicolored bulbs. They were sold in a white and red box with the item number (CH81648 or CH81658) written on the back above the bar code.

Sold by: Discount and dollar stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut from October 2008 through December 2008 for about $2.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lights and return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Playland International Recalls Swing Sets Due to Fall Hazard

Manufacturer: Playland International, Carrollton, Ga. They were manufactured in the United States.

Hazard: The metal around the weld at the top of the swing frame can fail, causing the top bar to fall, posing a fall and impact hazard to the user or by-standers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm received one report of a child who suffered a head injury as a result of being struck by the top of the bar on the swing.

Description: The recalled includes swings sets with a 3.5 inch arch swing frame and a 3.5 inch top metal bar. The recalled swing sets come in red, orange, yellow, blue, tan, white, black, brown, teal, green, fuchsia, burgundy and purple.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled swing sets and contact Playland for instruction on receiving and installing a free repair kit.

L.L. Bean Recalls Ice Cleats Used During Winter Weather
Name of Product: Stabilicer Lite Cleats

Distributor: L.L. Bean Inc., of Freeport, Maine. They were manufactured in the United States.

LL Bean recallHazard: The elastic harness system attaching the cleats to footwear can detach, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received two reports of the harness breaking. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves Stabilicers Lite cleats with model number BNX9. The cleats are worn over footwear for traction in winter walking conditions. The recalled cleats were sold in blue, orange and pink. Black Stabilicers Lite cleats are not included in this recall. The cleats were sold in sizes small through extra large. The name Stabilicers Lite appears in raised letters on the underside of the harness.

Sold at: L.L. Bean stores nationwide, LLBean.com and the L.L. Bean catalog from August 2008 through November 2008 for about $20.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cleats and contact L.L. Bean to receive a replacement or refund.
