This family repulses me. They keep having kids to assign them off to their older kids, it's ridiculous. None of those kids is going to have a personality. They're a freak show for over-indulgent people to watch on the TV.

I think is awfully selfish of this couple to continue to have children. To be able to take care of these children, they have turned the older children into babysitters and "assign" a younger child to them. I find this absurd, and it seems ridiculous that this show continues to go on. Why do we allow this and even uplift them for exploiting their children ???

I dont think its right how you people are judging michelle and jimbob. At least they dont collect welfare and food stamps.I watch there show and i dont see nothing wrong for what they are doing. If you dont have nothing nice to say dont say anything at all

It's not how many kids you have or you don't; it is what you do in life with your life. I think it is terrible that the father promotes the family the way he does to get "stuff". What is his job??? pick one and stick with it. TV is not one you should be on. How much money do the kids really get? Funny how money is hardly ever discussed. How are things funded? Bus/ house/ travel etc....

They really do appear to be somewhat of the "perfect" family and happy with it. I don't hate them but I don't agree with how they have chosen to have so many children and put it on television. Yes, they are taking care of their kids physically, but mentally we don't what's going on. There are people all over the media putting on a happy face for the camera and pretending the 17 or 18 other people living with them bother them. What really gets me though is how they've put their religion out there and stand strong on that (by all means that's awesome!) but have failed to see the most important thing. God did say go be fruitful and mutiply the earth, as they've quoted, but He didn't say go and have a ton of kids. The world has already been started and is very well populated. Over population is extreme for this case but if every family did this we will be. God also said to treat your body as a temple and in my opinion she's not doing that. She's ruining her body and by age 40 (if she's not already there) she will start having health problems if she doesn't stop having kids. I think any family who can provide for their family physically and mentally should be given an award, not just because you can do it 18 or 19 times. I commend them for being able to provide a stable environment for their kids. The older ones are apparently doing well on their own so kudos to them!!

I know this is off topic but I am really trying to picture all the people of the world in Tallahassee. This wood be a fantastic experiment though. I apologize to all those already there but we should all test this theory out. because if this works we all should never worry about over populating a pollution again. But first I need to know is this people stalked on top of each other or just standing side by side. And does this theory take into the account of the size of some people living on this planet. Finally, global warming who cares about that tiny little thing when we have oceans full of plastic and beaches turning into every bit and bob we throw out. what wonderful vacations my children will have when they go to the beach. It will be like a trip to the museum.

i think thats a lot of kids and it may affect how they live and stuff like that but they're able to care for that many.... i'm not sure it makes them parents of the year but they have done good so far as parents at caring for 18 children
jan - 29/01/2010 13:33
Okay, it seems pretty unhealthy emotionally and physically to want to have so many children. what is it for? I don't think having a bunch of children makes you "parents of the year".
Jackie - 26/01/2010 10:22
That's just freaking insane. No one can keep up with that many kids. I feel sorry for the kids.

What a beautiful family. Although it would be too much for me personally, I applaud these parents that truly see the blessing in children. I would be willing to bet that for all of those judging the Duggars so harshly, that if an accurate survey were conducted - the results would show they spend more time with their children than the average family. They teach them at home, play music together, worship together and more. I have a niece with 8 children, homeschools them, takes them to sports, music lessons, etc. They are the happiest children I know. The older ones far surpassed testing requirements and are excelling in college. Interesting - these families chose to keep their children close, invest in them, share their family values and faith -- rather than hand them off to government funded care at 1 year old so they could get on with their life....and the children are thriving wonderfully.
